New Year’s Day Decorations

2025.01.07Culture & Seasons

Happy New Year! Let’s have fun studying this year too!

In Japan, on New Year’s Day, decorations called “Kadomatsu” are placed on the left and right of the doorways of homes and stores. These are signs for the gods who will bring happiness in the new year.

At YIEA, we placed one pine branch at a time. This is the most basic shape. Department stores have large, beautifully decorated Kadomatsu.

New Year’s Day decorations vary by region. You can look around and explore when you go out for the New Year.
