Starting a New Career in Real Estate
Zhang (from China), who completed the YIEA program in 2024, went on to study International Information Business at a vocational school. From April 1 this year, he has started working at a real estate company in Japan. He recently came back to visit his teachers at YIEA, and we had a chance to talk with him.

YIEA: Congratulations on your new job! How was your job search?
Zhang: Thank you! I attended information sessions and applied to companies in telecommunications and IT as well. However, I had always been interested in the real estate industry, and I was also drawn to the company because it has many branches. That’s why I decided to join this company.
YIEA: What kind of work will you be doing?
Zhang: I won’t know my exact role until after the training period, so I’m not sure yet. But I’m really looking forward to finding out which department I’ll be assigned to.

YIEA: Besides your studies, what else did you do at vocational school?
Zhang: I had a part-time job at a sports gym affiliated with my school, and I was the only student working there. While chatting with the Japanese staff, I heard about a volunteer opportunity to lead a children’s camp. It sounded interesting, so I decided to join. I spent four days at a ski resort in Nagano, working as a camp leader for eight children.
YIEA: That’s amazing—taking care of eight children for four days!
Zhang: Yes, it was definitely challenging, but also a lot of fun! When I talked about this experience during job interviews, many companies showed interest in me.
YIEA: It really shows that being proactive and trying new things can create great opportunities. We hope you continue to take on new challenges.
Zhang: Thank you! I’ll do my best.
Zhang also mentioned with a smile that he is thinking about making an important decision in the future. We hope to interview him again when his plan comes true.
