The reason I started studying Japanese so hard
Mr. Shusil (Nepal), a 2014 YIEA graduate, came to visit us.
Q. What have you been doing since completing your studies?
After studying business at Arts College, I mainly work in trade with Vietnam and Thailand. All communication is in Japanese.
Q. How was your time as a student at YIEA?
I was not good at Japanese. I was at the bottom of my class.
Q. Please tell me how you became good at Japanese.
One day, my boss at my part-time job said to me, “Don’t you understand this kind of Japanese? If you don’t understand it, why don’t you go back to your country?” That’s when I thought I had to study hard.
Q. Please leave a message for your juniors.
Life in Japan is tough, but if you work hard, it will help you later. Please study as much as you can now. I also use kanji at work, so I wish I had taken more kanji classes.
Thanks to Shusil for the interesting conversation!
