July 7 is Tanabata, also known as the Star Festival. According to a traditional Japanese legend, two lovers, represented by the stars, are allowed to meet only once a year on this special night.
One of the Tanabata traditions is to write a wish on a colorful paper strip called a tanzaku and hang it on a bamboo branch. People believe that their wishes may come true.
At YIEA, students also joined in the celebration by writing their wishes and decorating a bamboo branch together. Many wished to pass the JLPT or get into their dream university. Others wished for world peace, to become wealthy, or simply to have more free time.
We hope all of our students’ wishes come true!
