Speaking of spring desserts, light pink sakura mochi. Even with the same sakura mochi, Kanto and Kansai are different. The feature of both is the use of cherry blossom leaves. The sakura leaves are pickled with salt and can be eaten with mochi.

The red bean paste is wrapped in skin ” Sakuramochi of Chomei Temple ” is a specialty of Kanto. On the mochi are the petals of cherry blossoms.

It is also very common in Kanto now. ” Sakuramochi at Domyo Temple ” in Kansai use glutinous rice.
